My name is Joe and I just want to say that I almost never complain about service in restaurants. I know that in most places the employees work hard for their money and customers can be difficult, so I do not like to be picky. However, yesterday, Thursday 11/06/08 at about 9:00 a.m. I went to the Daily News Cafe with three friends. The guy who sat us was barely functioning. I am not making fun of him, maybe he had a medical problem, or he had done things in his life that he should not have. Two of us ordered coffee, and the other two ordered nothing at that point. He brought four coffees and a bowl of creamers. We told him that only two of us wanted coffee, so he took two away along with the bowl of creamers. The waitress corrected the problem and brought back the creamers. I ordered the California omelet and it was okay but nothing special. The coffee was horrible, it was very strong and bitter. The other guy thought so also, but he would not complain about it. I told the waitress the coffee was horrible and she ignored the comment. I told her again that something was wrong with it and she said to my friends, ""Where did this guy come from?"" Wow! I couldn't believe that the waitress didn't care at all about the quality of the product or her service skills. The normal response would have been, ""I,m sorry, I'll make some new coffee, no charge or I'll bring you something else."" She said nothing like that. I managed to drink about half a cup by diluting it with water and creamers but it was still horrible. Three times, we were offered to have our half filled cups filled and each time we put our hands over the cups; that should have been a clue! Nothing else was said about it and we were charged for the coffee. That was my first and last visit to the Daily News Cafe.
Pros: Nice location, I liked the patio setting.
Cons: Poor service.
