After being a member of the club on and off for 10 years, I tried to cancelled my membership when I was moving away from grad school. I submitted the form and documents as requested. The club committed to cancel my membership in August. In September, they were still charging my debt card. I called the club. They claimed not to have a record of my registration paperwork and made me resubmit everything. In the meantime, they kept charging my account. Although I dont keep paperwork, I did in this case because my brother had had a similar issue over the summer and several friends who we had referred to the club also had to deal with a lot of hassle when cancelling their memberships. I resent the paperwork and a few weeks later the club followed up with me saying that they would reimburse only partially, because they proof that I sent the second time around was dated august. I finally got a hold of the regional manager, Dom Routh who once again confirmed his decision to reimburse for Oct and Nov only because my proof was dated Aug. What happed to Sep? I never got an answer because he hung up the phone on me and threatened me not to call the club again. I never got an answer for when they will stop charging my card or when they will reimburse what was promise... not to mentioned why they breach their contract. If this was not a small amount of money I would seek a lawyer. I feel powerless and have not been able to pay attention in classes this week due to the amount of distress that the management of gold's gym has caused. I do not wish this treatment to any customers... specially those who paid membership fees for almost 10 years.
Pros: facility, classes, staff
Cons: bad /incompetent new management who has no training on customer service
