Primo Pasta - Not Changed For the Better 11/11/2008

Primo Pasta used to be one of our favorite restaurants. They served good food at reasonable prices in a bright, friendly family atmosphere with extra touches which made it worth the trip. We just went back following their recent renovation. While some of the above (good food) is still true, I'm afraid the changes made in the renovation have decreased our enjoyment of the Primo Pasta experience. Where the restaurant once was bright and cheerful, you're now surrounded by browns; brown tables, brown walls brown decorations which in combination with reduced lighting make for a rather dark and unwelcoming atmosphere, A favorite extra touch which we always enjoyed, the bread board with beans and beets, is now gone, giving us one less reason to choose Primo over any number of other local restaurants. The soups are still homemade and excellent, but unfortunately now come in smaller portions with the entrees than formerly. One gets the impression that the renovation and new decor were intended to make Primo more "upscale". While it is more airtight (the old building tended to get a little chilly in cold weather), it's also more "uptight", more ordinary, and has fallen in our estimation. more
