Nicely renovated downtown hotel 10/26/2008

The Paso Robles Inn is located in dwontown Paso Robles, well situated for touring the local wine country. The original hotel was built in 1891, but burned down in 1940; the new hotel was immediately rebuilt on the same site, and continues in operation today. The architecture and decor are appropriate to the area, and avoid the sterile feel of typical chain hotels. The steakhouse is above average, and quite good for the area, although no one will mistake dining in Paso Robles for San Francisco.\r \r Rooms are not inexpensive at over $100 per night, but service is good and the staff is attentive. Some rooms offer whirlpool baths using the local hot springs mineral water; although the smell of sulfur can be powerful, this is a unique experience.\r \r The Paso Robles Inn is a refeshing break from the usual chain accomodations, well located in a beautiful part of California. Not perfect, but worth considering if you are traveling to the area. more
