I am new to the area (from CA) and was looking for a new hair salon. My husband bought me a gift certificate for the Hair Cottage so I decided to give them a try. On my first visit the hair stylist only allowed a half hour to wash, cut, dry and style my hair and eventually ended up running out of time. When I told her what kind of cut I wanted, she basically told me that I did not need it. and she ended up trimming the cut I walked in with. I was looking for something new and wanted her professional opinion, but she did not have any advice for me other than to tell me that I would have to come back if I really wanted it done the way I asked for it. I believe this was because she did not have enough time to spend on me to give me what I wanted. Since she had had another customer waiting I ended up walking out of there with wet hair and a cut that was not finished. I swore I would not go back but since my husband bought me this gift certificate (for $100), I did not want it to go to waste. I made another appt. and made sure it was with someone else and requested that they schedule an hour just for me. The second hair stylist I saw was a little bit better than the first (at least finished my cut and dried my hair) but the cut was not high quality. In my opinion this is a low rate salon with low end hair stylists. They only charge about $25 per cut (I am used to spending $60+) and although you don't pay a lot, you get what you pay for. I will never go back. Pros: If you are looking for a cheap haircut and don't care about quality, this is the place for you. Cons: Bad quality hair cuts, low rate hair stylists, low end salon more
