Poor experience in 1999. Large 18 month old spayed female dog had GDV, Doc tacked stomach to the abdominal wall, and dog died in recovery. Very simple procedure, no intestine had to be removed (no enterotomy) and stomach was mildly inflamed. Poor intra-surgery and post-op monitoring. No bloodwork pre-surgery, no catheterization, poor medicine, poor service. $2000 later, I was in debt and had no sweet dog to show for it. Just because we are in the country does not mean low quality veterinary care. They can do better here. Maybe they are by now. I sure have not been back. I've taken my 5 dogs and 3 cats to Youngsville or Durham for care; better care is worth the drive and the money. Colony Park AH in Durham, Heartwood AH in Youngsville. At least they have high standards to go with their high costs (AAHA hospital members) :]
