Relatives visiting from out of town had seen this restaurant on the food channel and suggested we go there for breakfast. I had never heard of it before, despite living in the general Baltimore area. The first thing one is greeted by is a very loose handrailing on one side of the concrete steps leading up to the front door. Warning! Dont try using the left-hand rail for support! The front door is enough to make one turn around and run. It has big chunks of wood stripped off at the bottom. When one gets inside the floor is ancient rough flooring that looks as if it harbors the dirt of several generations. They probably mop it but..... The menu is uninspiring, the wait was forever before the food came and, quite honestly, after I saw the excuse for 'Eggs Benedict' I think I would rather have stuck with a 4th cup of coffee and to hell with the food. Eggs Benedict consisted of muffins with those nasty little rounds of ham on them that one can buy cheap at the store when money is running short right before payday. On top, were fried eggs (fried eggs?...whatever happened to poached eggs?). There was no asparagus on the plate, at all, and the entire mess was topped off with some thick cheese sauce. Perhaps the restaurant should invest in a basic cookbook so that they know what Eggs Benedict actually is. The half plate of hash browns looked edible and so I figuted I would pass on eating more than a couple of mouthfuls of the 'benedict' and stick with those. However, despite their appearance, inside the brown crust seemed to be something besides shredded potatoes. I never did quite figure out what the taste or texture was...some sort of rice thickener? Who knows? Anyway, I primarily moved the 'food' around my plate a bit, pushing into into heaps to make it look as if I had consumed more than I actually had. So $15 per person later, I can tell you that I would never go back there. In fact, I am sorry I ever went the first time.
