This is one of a trio of galleries in Birmingham that I would recommend (along with Hill and Robert Kidd). They will show work from nationally renown artists as well as work from local artists-- the only gallery in Birmingham that shows local work outside of the Birmingham-Bloomfield Art Center. The staff is very friendly and more than willing to talk to you about the artwork. I have always been treated graciously even though I have never made a purchase there. Note that when they show work from local artists, they are showing that artist's best work. When galleries in general (as opposed to museums) show work from famous artists, they are showing that artist's lesser work. How the best work from local artists compare to lesser work from famous artists is up to you to decide. At David Klein, you can see them side by side.
