We love SF and visit (from Oregon) often. We ate at Boulevard once before a few years ago and it was good but not especially memorable. This trip we decided to try it again since someone in our party who had never been had heard that Boulevard was very well-regarded . We had to make reservations weeks in advance. It seemed like the ""hot"" place to go. However, we found that the food was quite average and in fact many places here in Portland have much better food. But Boulevard was A LOT more expensive! Far, far better is Fringale, a small French bistro South of Market. We go there often and the food is fantastic, consistent and half the price of Boulevard. Save your money and go to Fringale twice!
