I previously lived in Northwest Austin and took my pets to Northwest Hills Vet clinic, a clinic at which I was highly impressed with. My wife and I moved to South Austin six years ago. Upon the recommendation of a friend I took my two dogs in for their annual shots and was charged over $500. I felt like that was exhorbitant and started going back to Northwest Hills. Recently I decided to give Brodie Animal another shot. Although the staff is very nice they again charged me in excess of $500 for the annual visit. I also had to wait nearly two hours beyond the time of my scheduled appointment because the only vet on duty had a trauma emergency. I realize that trauma takes precedence, but was slightly put off that they only had on vet available on a Saturday morning. Northwest Hills always had multiple vets on duty so that if an emergency situation arises they could at least have someone else available to help you out. In addition, as I waited to check out after my two hour wait, the assistant at the counter (also very nice) took more than fifteen minutes to get my paperworkd processed and take my payment. Brodie also recommended that my pug get a teeth cleaning and extractions of two molars. The estimate on the cleaning and extractions was $1200. I called Northwest Hills the following day without divulging any amounts or that I had already received another estimate they quoted me a price less than half that amount. Brodie, nice people, but they are clearly overcharging their customers, and the service is a little slow and mismanaged. I would like to recommend them since they are friendly but the pricing is ridculous.
Pros: My animals really liked the staff
Cons: $$$$ and customer service
