Recently I went to Croissant Brioche French Bakery & Cafe for a quick bite. I purchased an eclair at 6:30 PM (there was no line there) and paid with my regular credit card. The owner said: ""I need cash since this is less than $5!"". I told him that I prefer paying for everything with Credit Card since it keeps my expenses on one statement. Also, I was upset with his frowned face and the impolite way that he approached it. He was not happy and made it clear with his demeaning demeanor while running my card. I explained to him that there is no need to be rude to the customer, and he said that ""If the customers are not happy, they need to purchase their 'eclair' somewhere else!"" I understand that at the end of the day, the owner may have had a rough day and he was not his regular himself. However, I recommend that as clients visit the place, they remind the owner that doing business in the US does entitle the customers to some rights and a level of courtesy and civility. It is just the polite thing to do in a civil society. I felt like I am in an episode of Seinfeld and I was expecting the owner to bark at me and say ""NO ECLAIR FOR YOU!"" There are many great cafe and pastry shops in the Rice Village, and the taste of bad service lasts much longer than any sweet pastries that this place may have.
Cons: Poor service by the owner
