1.6.08 Wavering between 3 and 4 stars. Ok, so on the one hand, the ""free"" sourdough and antipesto was really really good. Pity we had to get the server's attention to ask for more. I guess really the service irritated me the most: the server was uber courteous and attentive when he was actually engaging with us, but there were way too many times when he would hover, glance over at us, then disappear. ""COME BACK!!! *sigh*..."" My g&t glass was empty for most of the night. Shame on him because I could easily have sunk another 2 or 3 cocktails. The food was a mixed bag: I opted for the Peppercorn Crusted Steak with ugh, I forget the name, it was a tarragon sauce, and some kind of frisee salad with bleu cheese. Le Bird had chicken stuffed with proscuitto. Mine looked and tasted great but Bird's was really pathetic. Just looked like a curled up chicken breast thrown unceremoniously onto a plate, and the proscuitto didn't taste good either. Thank god my poor darling had more sourdough to munch on :( I would go to the hotel again for sure, and I would eat here only if I didn't have transport to get to something cheaper.\r
3.31.08 The Birds decided to give Xebec another chance last week. Really shouldn't have bothered :( The server clearly couldn't care less about giving good service, and the food was mediocre (avoid the Ceviche. VERY disappointing). Xebec looks good but doesn't deliver.
Pros: Quiet, exclusive, nice service when you can get it
Cons: Expensive when you get crappy service, mediocre food
