My experience at Trace Crossing Family Medicine was anything but professional and inviting. The staff was not friendly or helpful. After waiting in a patient room and having 2 nurses coming in to see if I knew what was going on, Dr. Marshall finally came in and informed me that he, not a female nurse like the receptionist on the phone assured me, would be doing my complete exam. I was hesitant to continue with the exam because I preferred a female for the pelvic exam, but my hesitance didn't matter as I was soon told by Dr. Marshall that he would not write me a prescription for my birth control because he is a Christian and I am unmarried. Not only was I uncomfortable by the fact that he would be doing my exam, but both my own personal decisions and my faith were insulted. I was refunded for the co-pay, and left the office in tears. I am a strong Christian, and I believe that my boyfriend of 4 years and I are absolutely more Christian and loving than a lot of married couples. We just don't feel the need to judge other people and plaster Christian verses all over our professional spaces. I understand that Doctor's are allowed to deny prescriptions based on their beliefs, but it is then necessary for the receptionists to notify new patients that their practice is extremely Christian-based, so that patients can make an informed decision about their situation. Do not go to this facility unless you are a perfect practicing Christian and see no problem with judging others for their personal decisions.
