If your new to New York there are a couple rights of passage that one must go through. Getting horribly lost on the subway has to be the first, getting yelled at by complete strangers and of course finding an apartment. While the first two can be taken with a grain of salt, the latter holds a little more weight. I?ve heard so many good and bad stories that I didn?t really know what to expect. I was moving from Cali and really knew nothing of New York, let alone Brooklyn but regardless it was time to take the plunge. I called a bunch of brokers and really took the time to see what each company had. Just to explain I?m probably the worst client any salesmen can have and I really put everyone to the test. I understand that everyone needs to make a living but come-on now why should I have to pay almost twice my rent for an apartment. While most of the brokers held their own and really tried their best, one company really stood out. Rapid Realty was like no other company out there. The majority of the agents aren?t salesmen, they?re just regular people who show apartments for a living. This might sound as a negative assessment but its quite the opposite, going on the appointment was like spending time with a peer. While they could not cater to my situation because I decided to move to Manhattan, they are by far the best of Brooklyn real estate and that?s coming from a person who can be so frustrating to deal with that most don?t bother.
