I purchased a Toshiba laptop at the Thousand Oaks Circuit City store. Based on the sales associate's recommendation, I purchased the top of the line City Advantage Plan warranty to the tune of $500. This was to cover the laptop against all problems and perils. \r
It was not told that the laptop had to be shipped out for 3 to 4 weeks. The fact appears, after an easy internet search, this warranty frequently leave the consumer without their laptop for several months.\r
The laptop I purchased has had frequent issues including shutting off unexpectedly, keys falling off, battery not lasting more than 30 minutes despite being the second battery I was provided. This have occured since the week I purchased the laptop. In fact, this is the second laptop. The first was returne immediately. Of course they gave me a brand new laptop in store as this was under the 30 day mark.\r
Store director is Warren. He has been totally not helpful. Corporate office is quite shielded. All calls are routed to Manila Philipines. Asking for a manager or to be transferred to the Richmond Va Corporate Office will result in a hang up.\r
No one knows anything an no one cares as they are aware the consumers can' t reslution unless they actually take Circuit City to small claims court. Be sure to take the Fire Dog website, highlighting that they repair computers with you though. It clearly shows false advertising lulling the consumer into a sense of security. Purchasing a high priced item at Circuit City is as risky as purchasing the same in a third world country and assuming you will get service.\r
Find a local pc/laptop builder such as PC World on Thousand Oaks Blvd and make sure all service is done locally by folks you can walk into the store and speak with face to face. Laptop are too expensive to be treated like garbage by Circuit City. This was my first purchase there and certainly will be my last.
