The atmosphere is charming. There is great service. It is a family run business. The proprietor is polite and friendly. They sell ""Fair Trade"" coffee. The location is pleasant. It is directly across from the grassy area of Lake Merritt. Great for lunch... tuna, cheese toast, turkey, roast beef, and vegetable sandwiches. There are a host of desserts, including delicious carmel cake and bean pies. The music varies from soft, to jazz, to rhythm and blues. You may enjoy your coffee indoors or outdoors. However, you cannot hear the music outdoors.
Pros: There is some free parking.
Cons: The CIty of Oakland is aggressive on the meters and 2 hours.
