Best East Indian Food in the West (for North & South) 9/15/2007

Just know that great Indian food is from Pasand. The first tell tale sign comes from the samosas (both vegetarian and meat). Almost every Indian restaurant uses only potatoes and peas in their samosas and Pasand is no different in this regard (they all need to start adding cauliflower). But the filling from Pasand is far superior to that of every other Indian restaurant. They remember onions, garlic and use masala dosa spices. The lamb they use for the samosas are stand alone as ground lamb, not some paste mixture as if samosas were a cross between potstickers and spring rolls. The chutney's that comes with the samosa's and masala dosa (namely the south Indian red chili sauce) is my favorite condiment of all time. All tandoori dishes are moist and flavorful, the biriyani's (Indian fried rice) are delicious and filled with meat, and all the thali's (pronounced thaw-lee, Indian entrees served with various sauces & rice or naan) are large in portion and flavor. You cannot order anything bad. I have gone to Pasand since I was a child and I feel they are only second to my own mother's cooking. Perfect for the beginner and snooty, hard to please Indians. 11/10 Pros: Best Indian Restaurant Cons: They closed the one in Sunnyvale more
