It's mediocre and overpriced at best. 9/26/2007

I usually eat around the corner at Magnolia and Garfield, Kasen Sushi but I was going to hear music after dinner and this place was closer. I never heard of having to call 2 days ahead of time to get Toro or Abalone at a Sushi restaurant. That's what happened here also everything I sampled was just a tad above mediocre I had giant clam (not cold enough just barely bearable), Red snapper (a bit above mediocre) and a california roll handroll on soypaper (not traditional but I was desperate) it was so small I needed a magnifying glass to see it. After being conned out of 40 bucks with 1 overpriced beer I immediately drove to Kasen 5 miles away and had the best Toro and abalone that exists around this area; that and the Tamago sashimi was soooooooooooo good. It restored my faith in humanity. Whatever you do don't let this happen to you unless your used to mediocrity in a big way. Seems like Niya is owed a living and the fact that they have been there for so long doesn't bode well for knowledge of quality in the community concerning sushi bars. A bit scary. I guess more power to them if they have mastered the shell game to that degree. Pros: The cucumber salad was actually great and the beer temperature was perfect Cons: Overpriced royally for the lack of fish quality and selection. $ 7.75 for a large beer more
