I drive to Broaddus at least once a month from Lufkin just to get my dose of all things fried. Catfish Junction's first two locations were between Lufkin and Nacogdoches. Back then I bet Coy (The owner and always happy greeter, manager and general overseer) fed half of East Texas every week. Unfortunately a fire put him out of business for a while and then for reasons unknown he reopened in Broaddus. Many East Texas make a regular pilgrimage to visit Catfish Junction. The obvious featured cuisine is fried catfish but man other delictable country favorites grace the all you can eat buffet like fried chicken, fried livers & gizzards, hot water cornbread, hush puppies, greens, chicken & sausage gumbo, corn on the cobb, butter beans, pinto beans... the list goes on. Dessert always features a big bowl of Banana Pudding. Some might say that the atmosphere is lacking but I would have to say that the atmosphere is absolutly amazing. Along with the interesting restaurant planning are the colorful characters that are never in short supply. After dinner there is a Gospel Jamboree going on at various times next door. If you are visiting East Texas and want some local culture you have to make an evening and journey to Broaddus.
