We'd been wanting to try Tinto since hearing so much good about it, and having enjoyed Amada. Three of us had schedules permitting us to get a same-day reservation at 5:15 on a Friday. Everything we tasted was delicious and inventive; we found that about a dozen plates for the three of us was enough food (although still pricey; it adds up quickly). We ate on the main floor next to the open kitchen. The decor is warm but chic, although the chairs aren't particularly comfortable (perhaps this is better in the lounge-like lower level). Unlike the rest of the staff, which was quite friendly, our handsome blond waiter seemed to think that food service was beneath him as he waited for his modeling career to take off. Also, following a common practice these days, he didn't write down our order when we gave it; as a result we failed to receive one of the items that we were especially looking forward to (and that he had encouraged us to order!). We realized this only when the plates were suddenly cleared, since no one asked if we wanted anything else before dessert. But that's a relatively minor quibble, and wouldn't stop us from returning.
Pros: excellent, interesting food
Cons: expensive; some uneven service
