We went to Girtle's last August after our Hood to Coast relay run and had an awful long aggrivating experience! So my brother wrote a letter to Bob Girtle the owner and told him we had a horrible experience at this restaraunt, Bob wrote him back, and called him to set a time when we could all go back and he was very adamant that he would personally wait on us himself, and take care of all our dinner needs, and he also informed us that he fired the horrible lady manager that we had last year that was so rude to us. In returning this year excited to go try eating there once again we discovered that the manager he said that he fired was still working there, and he was no where to be found. He gave us a reservation time to be there at 9pm, and when we got there none of the staff new anything about our reservation, or his promise to my brother. We asked a few wait staff if they knew if he was around and they would at one time say he was and the next time they would say he wasn't. While we decided to just give the place a try anyways and over come our anger with the restaurant and staff. They finally seating us after a 1/2 hr, and the other male manager came over and greeted us and told us that Mr Bob Girtle was not there that night and he hopes we have a good meal. So as our waiter game over and greeted us, we saw a gentleman that was talking to all the employees and we asked our waiter who that guy was and he said oh that's Bob, Mr Girtle. My brother was just dumbfounded that ALMOST every staff person in that restaurant lied to us about him being there, and why? Did HE (Mr. Girtle) tell them to lie to us? My brother went up to speak to Mr Gritle and find out why he didn't come out to great us and talk to us and serve us like he promised. He acted like he had no idea that we would even show up, and I could tell by his body language that he wanted nothing to with my brother or us or even helping or explaining his situation, he couldn't even explain his sorry self! Sorry Pros: Awful customer service, owner cannot keep a promise, and tells his employees to lie! more
