Restaurant doesn't fit neighborhood 8/13/2007

If you are willing to try anything once, then this is the place for you. \r \r My five year old cousin had a birthday party at McDonald's, you know, the fast food restaurant. Where for dessert, a carvel ice cream cake was brought in and served. However, the Brick Cafe did not honor a patron's dessert request to serve a cake brought in from a local bakery. The manager could not even offer a fee where they would charge us to actually serve our own cake. As a matter of fact, they didn't allow us to use one of their knives to just cut the cake, and needless to say, we weren't offered plates either. \r \r Waiter service was short and not up to par for a non-busy Monday night in August. For instance, we had to wait long periods of time to get our water refilled as opposed to not having to ask at all. No one asked us to order appetizers until we were there for more than 20 minutes. We were a party of 13, waiting for the celebrant to arrive, and no one asked if our group had a special occasion like a birthday (which was the case with us). \r \r The food was acceptable and decent, but the service made this place --which is in a local, relaxed neightborhood in Queens-- act as if it was serving Soho/Meatpacking District/celebrity stuckups. Pros: Easy to find Cons: Everything else; waiter never bothered to introduce himself more
