Overhyped & Overpriced 8/7/2007

I was referred to this place from a friend who lives in Astoria. I had been bar hoppin all night (in Astoria), and capped off my night with @ Euro Delight-not. First the prices are bordering on price gauging. The ""clientele"" is what you would expect - the bookworms, the novel writers, 80 yr old sipping his Greek coffee (yes, even @ 12AM) and of course, my flaring, intoxicated crew. I have to write this due to the fact my Greek friend continues to pitch me on their ""crepes"". If you're interested in overpriced, generic outsourced Greek, not Euro, food and you enjoy being in a fish bowl (everyone not reading or writing was staring at us. it might have been the girls in our group, but still, its a little uncomfortable), THEN this is your place. For the gentleman, bring your girl and expect to be in the fishbowl, assuming she is cute. Save your money. If you want great good and reasonable prices, and you will it in Astoria, then roam around. You will a lot of great places, just not here, in Astoria. Living and working in Mahattan I feel I there is no better place to be. That being said, I was ignorant to this thought process. The restaurants, bars, clubs and lounges in Astoria are fantastic. I might even move out there. I thank my friend for insisting that I come to Astoria for night out. Since, I have been there more than two dozen times. Every time is just as pleasurable as the last. I've even apartment watched for a 3 weeks while my buddy went on business. Broadway & 30th Avenue is awesome. Just avoid Euro Delight-not. Pros: Located near half dozen clubs, bars and lounges within 2 blocks Cons: Thumbs down - Overpriced, overhyped, scary place... more
