not ecohealthy 8/15/2007

We have decided to leave this center at the end of this summer for many reasons but one of the main one has been the changes in its ecohealthy childcare practices. This was one of the draws of this place for us. Ever since new owners have taken over they seem to be cutting corners on everything and not taking ecohealthy practices serious. A few weeks ago when I took my child to the bathroom I noticed the esstential oils that were used have been replaced with an automated spray scents! Their method to get rid of a nest of bees was toxic sprays. Even worse was the lack of respect shown when the dead bees fell to the ground. My child came home with an ""art project"" of dead bees glued to paper. What happened to respect for all living things? Staff questioned agreed that practices have changed but they are afraid to talk to management. Too much tension here and no more team work. Too bad. It has been a special place to bring my child until now. Cons: no longer ecohealthy more
