Poor Customer Service 8/1/2007

I took my 94 Buick to Keller's for brake service because of the free loaner car offer. I was told they don't loan cars for inspections, which is what I needed them to do before repairing the brakes. The person on duty went ahead and loaned me a Chrysler Intrepid anyway. Some minor annoyances with the car, speedometer is in kilometers not miles, the radio doesn't work, and the bill was about $15 dollars more than I was quoted as an "out-the-door" price; not big deals just annoyances. The major issue I had was that I work on a military base and must have current registration and insurance for a vehicle to enter the base. The registration for the Intrepid expired two months previous and the insurance had expired 6 months previous. So I couldn't get to work, and had to drive back to the shop and exchange vehicles, then drive back to work. This cost me three hours of work which I am unable to make up due to the fact I already work two jobs. When I asked if they could do anything to help me out, I was thinking a little ($75) off the total bill. The statement that was relayed to me from the manager, via the rep was, "We already did you a favor, by loaning you the car.". When I picked up my Buick, another service rep told that Intrepid was out of commission and I shouldn't have gotten it anyway. The loaner car service is the only reason I chose them, there are plenty of other mechanics around with good/great reputations. Next time I'll choose someone else. more
