I travel for a living and after landing in Seattle was looking for good North Indian food. Being a Punjabi (from Muktsar) i read the reviews and decided that this looked like the place to be
I visited this place quite a few times trying different entrees and snacks like Samosa, Ticki, Saag with Makki roti, Malai kofta, chana bhatura, Karhi and few other.
Samosas at $1.99 a piece (with chutney alone) were below par. The filling in them was exactly what the aloo tickis were made of. When eating both we (me & my wife) could not decide if we were eating a samosa or a aloo ticki.
The much anticipated Makki roti with Saag was a big letdown. The Saag neither had the the taste nor the color (deep green) of saag (green mustard) at all. Looks like they used spinach or something else. Karhi was avg as well.
The malai koftas on one occasion were cold while the curry was hot. Seems like the curry was made fresh but the kofta (dumpling) was prepared and warmed up and put in the curry. Also they make Roti's on the tawa. No Tandoor at this place.
Chana Bhatura were ok but chana tasted different on different occasions. No consistency in taste or flavor. I also purchased their home made snacks. All i will say is stick to the Haldiram snacks.
The wait can be anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes. A lot of times i saw that the tables were never cleaned up and utensils from the previous guests were still lying on the tables.
Personally for me, seeking true Punjabi food, it was a big letdown.
Did i forgot to mention that this place is not cheap Also the quantity served does not match the price when compared to most of the other places.
If you dont know much about North Indian & especially Punjabi food then it is probably ok but if you are seeking true North Indian cuisine then try it but do not raise your expectations
A place for vegetarians only, they also carry an assortment of north indian sweets whichare fresh and delecious. so if you have a sweet tooth, do try the sweets.
Pros: Good home made sweets/desserts
Cons: No consistency in Flavour, Not authentic Punjabi food, Expensive
