When I moved to Santa Barbara I did a lot or research looking for a good gym in town. I am used to athletic clubs and having a private trainer of my own. I was very disappointed when I found the gyms to be crowded and small in comparison to what I was paying. Some of the trainers weren't even certified by a recognized body!!! The fitness manager of one of the local athletic clubs suggested, after a long conversation, that I check out Conditioning Specialists. I was amazed at the level of professionalism and education that their trainers have - the founder has over 16 (not a typo) fitness related degrees and certifications. The facility is on State Street, but people can't see in the window easily, so it's very private. It's also has a lot of natural light and really good airflow, which are great when you're in such a beautiful part of the world.
Pros: Highest level of education and professionalism anywhere, clean, quite, private
Cons: not a lot of square footage
