Hama's, as my entire family refers to it as - is the best sushi around. I'm not sure how others have been able to comment that the sushi wasn't great, because I've been to many - many sushi restaurants from Downtown to Santa Monica and up and down the coast...and this is where I wind up every time. I go about once a week to enjoy the sushi and the atmosphere. The chefs are prompt, courteous, funny as all heck and the 60s - 70s music adds the perfect touch to this ultimate Venice hot spot. Even though it's in plain site, it's a hidden gem. Never miss the yellowtail, peppered salmon,and red snapper with lemon juice, zest of lime and a hint of salt. You can be creative too and try the Venice Roll, or one of the other awesome creations they have to offer (Tuna Tartare on wonton crisps!). However, if you want the ultimate, sit at the sushi bar, tell the chef what you like and don't like - and then let them lead the way....you will not be disappointed. Don't forget to get some Sapporo and Sake too! The fish is fresh - always, the staff if at your service, and the atmosphere takes you to a decade you missed, or want to reminisce with. Nobu may compete...but Hama's will have you coming back for more - more often!
