Go if you must, but don?t expect much from this place? especially don?t base it on the grand 28-pt score given by Zagat (as we mistook it for). We?ve gone to our fair share of sushi bars and 25-pt plus Zagat recommendations all over the world, but this takes the cake for mistaken identities. As you would/should know, taste, freshness, and presentation are very big parts of any sushi dining experience. However, Katsu-ya fell short of all. Taste: We?d have been better off crossing the street to Todai. Freshness: Maybe? Presentation: Perhaps it?s because it?s a ?hole in the wall,? but there was definitely no ?dress to impress? factor with this one (unless, of course, you count the Hollywood-type patrons that worship this place). We agree with the last reviewer, if this is indeed the BEST sushi place in Los Angeles, shot us now!
