Great straight-forward food 6/11/2007

I went for lunch. Had clam chowder, quiche (with asparagus and real crab meat) and a slice of Cake. The cake was good -- and there is a ton to choose from. The chowder and quiche were great. In fact, the quiche was like any other I've ever tasted. Wonderful light texture and lots of cheese and crab meat. It is clear that they don't hold back on ingredients.\r \r The owner, Gerry Frank (of Mier and Frank), oversees every detail and works hard to ensure consistency and excellence. It is a straight-forward restaurant designed to appeal to a large cross-section of diners. Haute cuisine it is not, but great food it is. Worth driving to Salem from Portland for a nice Sunday breakfast. Pros: Great food -- plain and simple. more
