My Mom arranged for a session on beach in Galveston with Susan Henry Photgraphy. I thought it was a great idea - when she arranged it because we have not had a family portrait taken in years. Now my brother and I are married and have started our familys so things have changed alot since the last one. \r
I was impressed that they took so much time with us on the phone and in person before the seesion helping us plan all the little details that end up being big details - like coordinating clothes styles and colors, shoes, which drinks to bring for the kids that won't stain ... they covered all the details and it really helped us relax and know that we were going to get an great portrait.\r
I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about getting two small children and 6 adults to co-operate and then my Mom and brother added their dogs to the portrait and I really had little faith that we would get anything at all. But when Susan showed up, she just took charge and put everyone at ease all at the same time. She was fantastic with the kids. She was able to get their attention and make them smile and yet give them a break when they needed it. And at the same time she was able to get the dogs to perk up and make my Dad laugh. I still don't know how she did it all. My family has a vacation home on the island & we spend alot of time there relaxing - so we planned our portrait on the beach. This was great advice as well - it seemed much more of an intimate family moment caught in a portrait than a posed uncomfortable studio portrait. Everyone's personality's coming out - I just treasure these portraits. I also loved that they were able to retouch the fly way hairs. It looks natural - not completely perfect or over retouched - just right. This kind of quality portraits and experience is not cheap though. But when I put the portrait on the wall - it was worth every dime I paid and really even more! I will def. be back now that 2nd baby is on the way. \r
