In my quest for great--not just good- asian food in los angeles, i went here 6 months ago and had an excellent meal; sake selections were great as was the food & service, even on a very busy night, I revisited here recently and wasn't as ecstatic. They changed the menu to less of a selection and seemed to have ""dumbed it down."" Gone was the beef Pad Si Ew that was the best I've had anywhere (a close approximation is the drunken beef; it was good but not as excellent as the former.) Their strength is still imaginative cocktails, a very hip lounge/bar w/ pool table (which was covered & not in use the night we went--too bad.) The very dark red-on-crack ambience is cool, but almost too intimidating (or good for bad lighting if you don't want to see your companions too well.) I'd recommend it for a cocktail -- especially the snow shadow sake--light and impressive, or the asian-inspired specialty drinks. The new menu disappointed me, though. Now it seems a bit like better-than-average asian food with hip interior decorating.
