I just decided to drop by the Spice Route last Friday and was pleasantly UNsurprised. I had a feeling walking in that the food and service would be spectacular, and the Spice Route certainly came through! The place just opened pretty recently and is located off the beaten track on the first floor of a Best Western, so it doesn't have the crowds now that it will have when this little gem is discovered by the rest of the flock. The food was fantastic. I tried a few items off of the dinner menu and enjoyed all the offerings, but I highly recommend the mini lamb burgers. I think it was the first time I have ever eaten a burger without putting on any condiments or other fixings - the meat was so perfectly seasoned and cooked that putting on anything else would profane them. They also have a full-size lamb burger on the lunch menu that looked delicious, and I will be back for it soon! The menu is a little limited right now, but the place is new and the menu is expanding as they experiment with new dishes - if you're lucky, they might just make you a guinea pig for one of their experiments! The service was great, and you won't wonder why when you come by - the owners are behind the bar and in the kitchen, making sure your experience is the best possible. You can tell that they take great pride in their new restaurant and that the Spice Route will just keep getting better and better. The ineterior of the restaurant and its ambience would make it perfect for a date or just a night out. If you're in the Milpitas area, or even just driving by on nearby 880, I highly recommend you make a stop at the Spice Route.
Pros: Food, service, ambience once inside
Cons: Location: not easy to find
