As a college student who lives in the Central West End, I find few dining experiences more enjoyable than heading to the Majestic after a day of classes for a Coke and a Gyro Plate in the dead of a St. Louis winter (which is only about a month and half though). Sometimes, my friends and I will plurge for the Greek salad as well. I love their gyros; they're full of fresh (and juicy) lamb with lots of onions and Taziki (?) sauce. They're not for the faint-of-heart though since they're a lot to finish. As for the Majestic itself, I love the expansive windows in the diner that look out on Euclid. During the summer, you can look into the diner as you sit outside, blissfully unaware of the bustle around you. My father frequented this diner nearly 40 years ago, and unlike Tom's Bar and Grill right up the street, it didn't sell out for atmosphere. If anything, it has the best atmosphere for a diner since it isn't frequented by the ""suits.""
Pros: Cheap but quality food, friendly service, great neighborhood, gyros (+++)
Cons: A bit ""smoky"" even for a diner
