We sat at the BluWater Bistro in Kirkland for nearly 30 minutes -- no server, no bread and no drinks. When we finally got a chance to order drinks, one drink arrived warm (I guess the server had as hard a time getting to the drink as she did getting to us!). The second drink (a beer) never arrived. Notwithstanding the red flags, we decide to order food anyway (we're slow learners). We ordered fish and a medium rare steak. The fish was okay. The ?medium rare? steak? You guessed it -- well done! While we waited for our server to appear again so we could try to get the beer and get a replacement steak, we grew old. We then realized (old age leads to wisdom) that (1) there are starving people around the world and (2) we stood a (much) better chance of buying a winning, life-altering lottery ticket than seeing our server again. And so we ate the over-done steak with no beer (the beer never did arrive).
After the meal was over for several minutes and we still couldn't locate our elusive server, we finally asked for the manager. We told him it was our first time there and explained our bad experiences.
Rather than offering some sort of explanation or even an apology (maybe they were uncharacteristically understaffed that night, or that particular server had too many tables?), the manager had other thoughts (or lack thereof). His only response? "Would you like your leftover fish boxed?" Wow, a clever way to avoid repeat business -- ignore and insult the customer! This manager's swift and decisive action cinched our decision -- we will not go back. Way to go, Blu Water management!
