We went with our two young daughters because my husband found a ""kid-friendly"" location with a happy hour. The happy hour is only on drinks, not on food and there is no kid menu so we had to order an 8$ burger for our 4-year-old. The music was very quiet, so every sound we/they made was amplified. The other guests were very friendly toward us and our girls, but the server seemed very annoyed. At one point I asked if we could play with the ""toys"" on the bar, which were clearly there for customer use and again I felt like I was in trouble. The server knew that it was our girl's birthday, and said nothing to her. Perhaps she was just shy, but it's been a long time since I've had a server in Portland that was incapable of small talk. This is a friendly town, and servers even in the nicest restaurants have always been accommodating and nice to our family. This was an extremely uncomfortable experience and the food and price was not worth the atmosphere, the treatment.
Pros: cool decor, good soup
Cons: service, atmosphere
