I don't know what happened to the restaurant. I think that #2 son Tenley has dishonored himself and his family with the remake of this once great restaurant. I don't care about the aesthetics of the place, but the food quality has really slipped. I think that Tenley was so set upon this renovation that he spent himself into the poorhouse, and the food is suffering for it.\r

I have had 7 meals at china Gourmet since the renovation, each one progressively worse than the last. The past few experiences have included fish that was FAR from fresh, half raw chicken, and burnt food. On my last visit I sent back the raw chicken, and the waiter returned with a message from the kitchen, I kid you not, ""the cook's said he's sorry; he didn't know it was for you"". A shocking state of affairs.\r

I have reluctantly decided not to go back again, at least not until things change significantly, after 20 years patronage. There arfe simply too many good restaurants around these days to waste your time and money here.
Pros: none to be found these days. The sad decline of one of the greats.
Cons: Poorly prepared food, old fish, raw chicken, indifferent service.
