Chefs Station is a fascinating restaurant find. Any time I'm in the Evanston area I plan to dine at Chefs Station. To start with I like to eat at places that are owned by an owner in attendance, someone who cares makes and of all places Chefs Station's owner cares about everything including my satisfaction. The decor is funky because it was all found in an alley, donated or inherited! This place opened on a shoe string with no ""Fancy Dan"" with big bucks to throw around. The food is gourmet to say the least. Chef Romero, a hard working, inventive immigrant from Guatemala directs his kitchen like a Hollywood director. The service is smooth with impeccable timing for course delivery. The wine list is extensive. And the waiters know just which wine to suggest... if they get stuck owner Peter Mills is the Sommelier par excellence! High quality gourmet food, great wine and a caring owner and staff. This cannot be beat at prices that look cheap compared to the downtown tourist traps. Check Please! has made this place famous.
Pros: Dramatic Lighting Compliment a Caring Owner and Staff to create a Romantic Getaway.
Cons: Outdoor dining can get noisy.
