Went 2 Sundays ago for the first time - I was always hesitant to go because of the poor reviews about bad service, but it was my friends birthday so I figured hey things change.......was I WRONG. First I am a manager of one of the top clubs in the city and have been in the restaurant business for 7 years and clubs for 4. I understand what is necessary to create a successful venue and The Rooftop at the Standard lacked almost all of them. The only way to make them suffer for my bad experience is to post this review and hope to deter future guests from going. I have only posted one other review which was also a bad experience because I believe everyone has an off night, but my experience here said it all. The highlight was the view and I already forgot what that looked like. Rude bartenders who could care less what gets in your drink or that they gave you a warm beer as long as they get your money and move on to the next guest. The manager, who barely had a clue how to manage his staff, spent most of his time running around trying to find his servers who were no where to be found. Waited 45 minutes just to get a server to come to the table then another 30 minutes to get the food. The bartender ran his mouth at me for asking for a server 3 times instead of involving the manager who later informed me they were short staffed, but it was semi-busy at best. The only person who truly looked like he was working hard enough was the busser, which there was only one of. Short staffed really meant understaffed. I blame the manager. Regardless, it doesnt change the fact that the entire roof top is poorly managed, poorly staffed with some of the worst service in the industry. Food was good however! Bottom line.....The Standard has no standards when it comes to service or hiring. Its as if they are in the business of pissing off guests instead of making money off of them. STAY AWAY and save yourself the aggrivation. I wouldnt go back if they paid me.
Pros: Decent view, good food
Cons: Everything else you could possibly imagine
