Be on the hunt in this Brooklyn gem 4/23/2007

I feel that by reviewing the one in Brooklyn, I might be giving away a Bay Ridge secret. But maybe it's a secret worth sharing. I love the Century Department stores (been shopping there for almost 20 years). You can find just about anything, and the prices, as compared to a mall, Macy's, or JcPenny's, is much better. They do have name brand stuff, the only problem is that you have to look for them - you're never going to know what you're going to fine so dig around a little.\r Men, the shoes are downstairs. I stopped shopping for shoes online or at the malls because I always find something, for whatever occasion, and not at the marked up prices like Macy's (in fact, I'm going tonight to look for some more shoes). \r Don't forget the home store (which is across the street out he 87th Street entrance). From kitchenware to towels, from crystals to board games. \r Parking is a pain - but they recently knocked down the bowling alley on 88th Street that connects into the home store and put a parking lot there. Also the parking lot on 85th Street and 5th Ave is always available, and then there's street parking (good luck). It is out of the way for other city folks, but I think that's why it's not as crowded or messy as the one downtown (which I also like, but to a degree). Pros: Prices, variety of things, quality Cons: Customer service, parking, getting there from the city more
