Why anyone would go to Galveston for barbecue is beyond me. And Queen's just makes the point. Queen's is an average barbecue joint. It doesn't compare favorably with the joints in Central Texas. When I had lunch there, they served the brisket already covered in sauce. Who does that? Sauce should always be on the side. Even with the sauce, the brisket was dry and hard to swallow. All the fat had been removed. It was like eating compressed sawdust. With good barbecue, you don't need sauce. The ribs were OK but bland and almost cold. The beans were good but the potato salad lacked flavor. Places like Kreuzes in Lockhart, Louie Mueller's in Taylor, the Ironworks in Austin, even Rudy's in Central Texas are much better.
