I have been purchasing cakes from Clays' since my wedding 7 years ago. After a fun morning of tasting samples at Clay's, I still couldn't decide on my favorite flavor, so I ened up with a 4 tiered cake (each layer a different flavor) which would serve 200 people. We had a small intimate wedding of close friends and family which totalled 50 people. We still laugh about how the cake was so delicious, that there was actually none left to wrap up for anyone to take home! I took magazine pictures to Clay's of how I wanted the cake set up, and they did a wonderful job of working with the florist on the final decorating of the cake. Everyone who attended our wedding still raves about the cake being the most beautiful and most delicious wedding cake they have ever tatsted! I have purchased many cakes from Clay's since my wedding for special occassions (my favorite is the chocolate chip pound cake), and they have always done an excellent job of decorating, from Noah's Ark (for a 1st birthday) to Blue's Clues to Green Bay Packer themes. However, I have always taken pictures with me (to leave for the decorators), which may be why the cakes have always been decorated to my satisfaction. I have even purchased a speciality cake just before their annual summer vacation closure in August, and the cake froze beautifully in my deep freeze for a week (I followed their instructions about double wrapping in heavy plastic). I was worried about the taste after it had thawed, but it tasted as fresh as if it had just been baked. Even the top layer of our wedding cake was delcious after a year in the freezer! I would highly recommend Clay's cakes. They can be expensive, but for a special occassion, I feel it is well worth the price. I would recommend giving them at least 2 weeks notice for a special theme or flavor. The store is always crowded and they are very busy, but I have always been treated courtesously.
