If Berg Hardware doesn't have it... it doesn't exist. 3/12/2007

This is the only hardware store worth going to for ten miles in any direction. In fact I've even seen salespeople from other hardware stores in Berg to get parts to fix their stores... no foolin'. I've heard lot's of people complain about the prices; but here's the thing, who else is going to stock a $150 box of 1/4-20 Allen nuts, just so you can go in and buy two any time you want. They even had stainless steel acorn nuts when I needed them. Yes they were five dollars each; but they had'em, they knew where to find them and they were American made. The latter point escapes many people; some of this stuff isn't made in China yet because the quantity demand isn't there--like the Allen nuts. If you ask me it's the big box hardware stores that are the expensive stores; they cost too much in terms of time, quality of life, and realestate. Additionally big box store may look they have a lot of stuff but it is usually a lot of different brands of the same thing, ie, how many different brands of pliers do you need to choose from? Never mind the sales people, they may be friendly, but they don't know a pin-spanner from a cir-clip plier. Pros: Convenient location; ample parking; amazing inventory; knowledgeable salepeople. Cons: Not open Sundays; short hours Saturday. more
