People use to ask me if I was a food critic. I dine out very frequently and when I do find a great place....I stand up on my soap box and tell everyone, the same if it was bad. Although unofficial, my credentials of being a food critic is only because of part ownership of a very popular restaurant in Seattle.
I use to go to Flying Fish around once every two months to have their blacken peppered dungeness crab. Even if they say it a plate to share, I order one for myself. The taste is fantastic and the vinegar sauce is mouth watering. Before ordering I specifically asked the waiter for the largest crab they had. He said they are all two pound crabs and they charge by the pound. I was so disappointed when the crab came to the table it was more like 1 and a quarter pounds. It was such an effort to break the shell and pick our the meat that I didn't really want to eat it. But my friend and I ate it and joked about the size throughout the dinner. We even put the 2 inch claw on the table which was one of those claws that a crab grows back after loosing one.
The service was unusually terrible too. Our waiter kind of ignored us, and when we mentioned about the size of the crab he took it back to the cooks. Their response was they weigh them together and they all come out to be two pounds? They tried to accomodate by offering one dessert. Neither one of us eat desserts, but we took it to go just because they offered it.
Will I go back? No.... Flying Fish was on the top of my list of restaurants and now fell to the bottom.
Was I just being grouchy that day? No.... my dinner guest was my Pastor....I was on my best behavior.
Cons: I had to pay 12 bucks to park in a lot
