Food to die for 2/8/2007

Hamachi poke; parsnip soup; venison in a coffee-vanilla sauce; molten chocolate heaven for dessert. AHH. Cynthia Washburn catered a private dinner for us and four friends, and weeks later people are still talking about it. The food was outstanding - perfectly prepared, creative, and in tune with the winter season. Each dish was explained, and the wine pairings were just right. We've eaten in a lot of fine restaurants - French Laundry, Dining Room at the Ritz Carlton, Boulevard, Le Cirque in both New York and Las Vegas, Nobu in London, to name just a few - as well as many excellent neighborhood joints - and we know food. Our dinner experience with Cynthia ranks in the top 10. Service-wise, Cynthia was top-notch - she expertly timed our meal around the needs of 3 babies under 12 weeks old, and at the end of the meal, our kitchen was left spic-and-span. Bravo! We'll definitely hire her again. more
