We recently moved to Memphis from Chicago and we do not expect the resturant scene to compete with Chicago - seems many people like to compare Memphis with large cities across the nation - the Butcher Shop was a pleasant surprise and we had a very nice dinner. The service was excellent, the seating was comfortable (booth) and the atmosphere was typical of a restaurant known mostly for their steaks - not quiet but not overbearing.\r

My wife enjoyed the salmon and I had a filet. Both were prepared according to our instructions and both were very tasty. The filet had a very good flavor, not overcooked and it was very tender. The salmon was grilled to my wifes specs - and she can be very demanding with her fish! The side dishes were excellent - we had various veggies - and were not over-cooked to tough, as sometimes can be the case.\r

We enjoyed our experience there and will go back. We would likely take out-of-town guests who are steak fans. It would be a very good steak without breaking the bank!
Pros: Large bar area if you have to wait to be seated
Cons: During normal dinner hours very difficult to get in
