As a professional in the health and wellness industry, I've belonged to many gyms over the years - 3 in Ann Arbor to be exact. Gold's Gym Ann Arbor is the best by far! I joined the gym just as it opened its doors in mid-2006. At first, I was hesitant because I thought it would be a typical Gold's Gym filled with muscleheads. Boy, was I wrong!!! It's an extremely diverse group - there are folks who lift a lot of weight, but there are 'everyday' people like me. All ages, demographics, sizes, fitness levels. It caters to the beginner as much as it does to someone who's been working out for many years. It is a beautiful, welcoming facility with friendly, courteous staff. Some of the many reasons I love the gym are:\r
- Les Mils group exercise classes such as group cycling, boot camp, body pump (aerobics with weights). Classes are included in the monthly fee and have amazing instructors and great energy!\r
- well-qualified personal trainers\r
- tons of brand new cardio machines so you never have to wait\r
- cardio machines have built in televisions to keep me motivated - they even have the Big 10 Network!!!\r
- extensive free weight area. The dumbells have gel grips and they go up in 2 1/2 pound increments...great for women!!!\r
- lockerroom has tile and granite and huge lockers with digital locks (don't have to bring own lock)\r
- never have to wait for showers \r
- entry way has great pro shop, fireplace, and juice bar\r
- large, clean child care center\r
Pros: Plenty of parking, new and clean facility, welcoming to women, all fitness levels welcome, no waiting
