Finally....Beaverton has ARRIVED!! 12/9/2007

For years I have longed for a business in the historic district of Beaverton to come in and turn around the neighborhood. I think Decarlis is going to do just that . My husband and I are always driving miles from our home in the West Slope to find great food....we usually end around NW 23rd or in the Pearl. We've done Clarklewis, Bluehour, Andina, Le Pigeon, Filbert's, Hoyt 23, you name it, we've been there.....And now we have a new favorite...Decarlis in Historic Beaverton. The menu is simple and rustic, but diverse and complex at the same time. The ambience can't be beat. The exposed brick walls and hanging incandescent bulbs transform the space to urban chic.....ask owner Jana Decarli to give you the history of some of the fixtures when you come in....an amazing testament to restoration and reclaimation.\r \r The service was impeccable.....I've been here twice, and felt well taken care of both times. My water glass never went empty, and my plates were quickly removed as I was finished.....good service doesn't make me nervous...lol!! Owner and Chef Paul even came out to check on us before our meal ended, which is always a nice touch.......\r The first night we came with three young kids. The server was quick to offer two different pastas in kid size portions for a very reasonable price.........\r \r The pork ragu was incredible, as were the beef spare ribs.....but I will come back for the tombo tuna tornados wrapped in prociutto next week! The polenta fries are a great starter, as was the Yukon Gold potato pizza. The cesar salad was large and delicious, and the beet endive salad was a perfect winter starter. I can't wait to try the gnocchi or the ravioli next time.........\r \r Kudos to Paul and Jana Decarli for having faith in a part of Beaverton that has longs since been forgotten, and congratulations on a restaurant that could hold it's own on any street. We look forward to our next visit!! Pros: Great food, great service, great location, great great great!! Cons: Parking could become an issue when others catch on. more
