Abscess and neuter cost $800 11/15/2007

Though I took all of my pets to Aerowood (After Hours Emergency Clinic) for 15 years, I am now definitely looking for another vet. Awhile back, an abandoned un-neutered male cat adopted me. He came home late one night with an abscess (not life threatening) at the base of his tail so I took him to the emergency clinic. He clearly needed some attention for the abscess and I wanted to have him neutered at the same time. I picked him up the next day to find that the bill was $800. I can understand an extra $100 or so for the after-hours fee but $800? Turns out, they ran about every test in the world on him including x-rays of his tail. Lesson: If the vet talks about this or that test, say ?NO?. Be sure they spell out EXACTLY what they are going to do. Unfortunately, I was too trusting. more
