I started going to Placerita park as a kid with my family. It was about 15 minutes north of the San Fernando Valley, close enough to make it convenient and far enough to make you feel like you're a million miles away. \r

They have a nice Nature Center which is definitely worth checking out. There are nice little nature trails and a riverbed (in Spring it can be a little tricky if the water level is very high), picnic areas, and a little playground. At the West end you can see the ""Oak of the Golden Dream"", a historical monument.\r

It's a nice peaceful place that's worth checking out.
